We just completed our 2017 Alabama District Council at Garywood AG. Pastor Jeff and Stacey Leatherman and their team were excellent hosts for our Alabama family. Pastor Tommy and Lori Conner and their team led us in worship and blessed everyone in attendance.

The District Council officers, committee chairmen and their teams made everything run smoothly. We also thank the administrative assistants for their help. Each speaker added to the whole in challenging our folks to be used of God. We express our thanks to Jason Loper, Scott Martin and Scott Wilson for sharing God’s word with us. Our theme was God is Able and He was and is able.

We congratulate District Youth Director Steve Mason, District Missions Director David Strahan, General Presbyter Murray Kelly, Assistant District Christian Education Director Vint Norris and Assistant District Women’s Ministries Director Bobbi Tyus for being re-elected to their positions. We also chose Alabama Youth Alive Missionary Ben Russell’s name and Pastor Joe Simmons’ name to be sent to the General Presbytery to be considered as Alabama’s Under-Forty nonresident presbyter selection and Alabama’s African-American selection respectively to be considered for General Council.

I was privileged to share God’s word in our opening service on Monday night. The Apostle Paul wrote that God is Able in 2 Corinthians 9:8. Two thousand years ago, God ignited a breathtaking revolution using a handful of radical Christ followers. The world has never been same, but we have seen that revolution fizzle in America.

The church in America needs to quit hitting the “snooze button” and wake up! Today is OUR DAY and it’s time to be the radical fire-baptized church God intends us to be. We must take the “handcuffs off of God” and allow Him to have His way among us.

God is all-powerful, He has the ability and strength to do whatever He pleases. His power is not restrained or inhibited by any of His created beings. People and nations are powerless when confronted by His might.

Our amazing God is capable of doing anything. No task is too big for Him. He never fails. And He is never tired, frustrated, or discouraged.
• No matter what you might be facing, God can help you.
• Nothing is too hard for Him. No need is too great for Him to meet.
• No problem is too complicated for Him to solve.
• No foe is too strong for Him to conquer.
• No prayer is too difficult for Him to answer.

The Bible promises, “By His mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope” (Ephesians 3:20). God is able to do more than man can understand. Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE for Him.

Again, thanks to EVERYONE who made our council a blessing to others. I also want to thank everyone that attended this year’s family gathering at Garywood. Remember, let’s TAKE THE HANDCUFFS OFF OF GOD!
